Kāpiti

An island sanctuary and bush day walks up the coast.

Photo: Paekākāriki Escarpment

The Kāpiti coast is the strip of beaches and bush between Paekākāriki and Ōtaki, with Kāpiti Island lying offshore. The island is a nature reserve, and visits are by permit and boat from Paraparaumu.

Club trips here are mostly day walks, and a few are volunteer work trips. Kāpiti Island, the Akatārawa Forest and the Paekākāriki Escarpment appear most often.
