Lewis Pass is the alpine pass that links North Canterbury with the West Coast. The country around it is forested valleys and hut-to-hut routes, including the St James Walkway and the valleys leading off the pass.
The club's trips are mostly medium weekends to huts such as Christopher, Cannibal Gorge, Ada Pass and Lake Christabel, and a couple mention Maruia Hot Springs. A few climb peaks such as Gloriana and Mt Princess.
