West Coast

Wet bush, old gold tracks and wide river flats.

Photo: Old Ghost Road

The West Coast is a long strip of wet forest and wild rivers between the Southern Alps and the Tasman Sea, and it gets a lot of rain.

The club's trips here include the Croesus Track and the Inland Pack Track in the Paparoa Range, the Old Ghost Road, huts in Victoria Forest Park, trips up the Toaroha and the Cedar Flats area, and an alpine traverse to the Gardens of Eden and Allah in the Adams Wilderness. They are mostly easy-medium to medium.
