During the New Year 10 led by yours truly tramped into the Ruahines for four.fine days and a medium trip. After shuffling cars between Kawhatau and the Purity road=-end, the 10 struck out to Crow Hut. A climb followed the next day onto the Hikurangi Range and a camp was established near Mt. Mangaweka. A route along the ridge and, into a'side creek: of: the Pourangaki and down to Kelly Knights Hut for the last night was followed before tramping out to the cars and a picnic lunch. Various people organised the meals which turned the trip almost into a gourmet one, I feel this sort of trip should be run Sppugr tye as Many cannot get away for the longer Christmas trips..
