Dave (Demon) Wills, Chris (Aquaman ) Collins, Tony (Chief Seer) Gazley, Dan (The Man) Wilson, eané (the Late??) Evan Cunliffe formed the FE party to roam the Richmond. Dan tells the tale: Lady Luck was with the boys from the start. The early Friaay morning road walk was lightened when a HVTC party in a Combi delivered our packs to the end of the Top Vailey Road. An 8 o'clock start in mist and drizzle saw'us on our way via O14 Man to Mt. Rintoul end the comfort of 2 weli stocked Forest Service hut. Saturday dawned cold, crisp and fine, for a drop into the Lee River Valley énd a stiffclimb to the tops. Mount Starveall and the Hacket peaks fell by the wayside before the boys collapsed in a small saddle at 2700 feet to spend the night. On Sunday, fortune smiled again, the sun shone and we passed along the Pelorus River in glorious conditions before striking up Fishtail Stream ana a 2000 foot grunt to the top of the ridge. ar Heavy going saw Mt. Fishtail stiil ominous in the distance when camp was made, again in a small saddle. A council of war was held, loins girded: and off we set to Mt. Fishtail.
