This text was read by OCR from a scanned newsletter and has not been proofread yet, so expect odd characters and mistakes.

More than a dozen: (we lost a few. during the day) took part in a fairly. low key day of rock climbing instruc-— ‘tion at Titani Bay, .4 number of routes on the Slab, Pinnacle and Nose areas were safely completed, and past glories and future challenges discussed over burnt Sausages at midday.

Although Titahi Bay tends to be a littie BORING, it is still an ideal vanue for basic rock instruction __ as a number of novices can graphiceily be shown how I to climb and set up helays at close range without fear of falling. Reck climbing tuition is good value; not just for the budding mountaineer but also for the’ I weekend traniper., Balance, rope handling, and even tolerance are as limvortant tc the valley tramper 4s -they are to the mountainoer.
