The trip otherwise known as Brock's ‘Easy' or'Medium' originally had lL participants - 2 didn't make it to the bus, we lost then found 1 on, Maymorn Ridge. We tramped 3-4 hours and took a lunch break where earlier ° that day we had had breakfast and picked up a faulty ‘fitness’ tramp on. the way home —- confused. — oot. ne re It's all very simple really. The tramp, marred only by rain and a dead possum in the campsite, began as. any other. The party led by yours truly trudged up Maymorn Ridge - then things. went awry. We missed the cairn’ marking the Renata track and continued on to fight our way through bush lawyer, toitoi and gorse:: Bashing through this was no fun so the party about turned and during the obstacle conquering exercises we misplaced. Chris, found the cairn ‘and then found Chris at the bottom of the ridge. Renata was finally achieved via Francis creek and by 7-8 hours of tramping: Fortunately the motley ‘crew displayed none of the characteristics — of the 'Bounty Crew' so this captain Bligh survived unharmed. Renata hut was being repainted by cCTC's so most of us camped on the ridge. Those © who stayed in the. hut (3) were treated to free all night entertainment lucky them: Sunday dawned much brighter and the group rested and accompanied by our faulty ‘fitness' tramper set off to’ successfully conquer Maymorn Ridge on the homeward journey. = _ The trip revealed a couple of home truths - Land and Survey maps with contours and WIMC Bushcrafts are particularly useful and that even an Easy Trip can seem to become a gruelling exercise.
