Ski Instruction – July 22-24

22–24 July 1983 · Mt Ruapehu

This text was read by OCR from a scanned newsletter and has not been proofread yet, so expect odd characters and mistakes.

I read the last Newsletter and realised that I hadn't contributed to it. Did I go tramping in June? Yes, I recall being in a three-some: at Jumbo. But no more reminiscing. The ski season has started. No bus, so we went by car instead. When we got to Ruapehu there was no snow: Well, not much anyway. Pete Clark did a great job finding a patch of snow near Mead's Wall for the beginners . I'went with the intermediates who all hac the same fault -— STRAIGHT LEGS: The valley T-bar was going so we skied between, the’ ache and across the patches of ice. On Saturday the weather was beautiful’ but the queues were a bit long. Sunday was windy and quite cold, ‘It tried to snow but with little success. So it was back to the. cars and off to Wellington. - Mike Hollis .S. Anyone who wants an over-sized Mountain Mule pack - a mammmoth see Mike Hollis. . .
