BUVJB GREY — LAKE CHRISTOBEL — NINA RIVER 29 Dec '83 to 2 Jan '84 With fresh cnow covering the tops I was wondering if this trip would be a suitable re-introduction to tramping (after a 10 year break) for Lyn. .It was supposed to be a swimming ard sun-bathing summer trip. The trip up the Blue Grey was good, with a foot track up the true right. This track -dropped to the shore of Lake Christobel. Here a new track is being cut and this slowed down the party considerably. Once the track is finished (sometine soon) this will be a good track. _all the way to: the hut. The following dey was spent lazing until lunch followed by a day trip onto the tops above hough Creek. (Note: while the track from Rough Creek over the ridge is well marked it bears little resemblance to the route marked on the WZMS 1 mas}! That night we shared the hit with Barry Biggs who asked aftex many of the Club's members. . The number of times I had to say 'T don't sce him/her out mich these days’ certainly made me wonder. New Year's Nva was spent travelling up the true left branch. A good owe goes up here and over into the Robertson River. We left the track above the bush-edge and travelled over the saddle at the top of the. » valley and ¢ thence into the top ef the Nina. We spent two more very easy days travelling down the Nina. The Nina is a very beautiful river, especiaily the flats and pools about one hour’ from the Lewis Pass Road. With a good track up to Nina Bivouac (approx. 4 hours) this is an ideal valley for those who, for whatever reason, want an easy tramp toa pleasant campsite. . _ Those on the trip: Leo Homés {scribe}, Janet Dobbie , Brian Long, Lyn Burt. :
