Blessed by’ gréat weather we had a fabulous time. Matteo and Jim, our two teenagers: led the way. The toldies! Malcolm, Sue and yours! truly made it in ‘their usual grand style. Brian was so fit that I think he could have done the trip in half the time. But those in between - well - . they didn't quite make it, Legs seemed to be the problem this year but not too serious as Stuart and Anrm were able to walk out. The highlights of.the trip were: snow on the Whitcombe Pass, no track up the Hokitika, boot repairs failure, too much food - remember last year - see Comesky en Hollis's Hunger Hike in the 1983 Journal. The list goes on to in-= clude, superb photos by Jim, Michael and Sue, West Coast hospitality, hot pools, the last day over Avalanche and Bealey Peaks. Matteo's New Year resolution was to ride a bike to school! Where to next. year? -~ the Red Hills - jet boat up the Arawata, over the Olivine Range, Red. Hills,.Trinity Pass, Ten Hour Gorge, and jet boat. down I the Arawata. Four places are already taken so be ins? Michael Hollis
