ERIC'S FUNNY SOUTHERN - March 4-6 . : Mark Randal . After travelling by van to Otaki Forks, the. five of us fit trampers strolled up to Field Hut with visions of a fine weekend as the moon shone through the trees. Wishful thinking!! In‘the morning, Misty Morning I took some photos of the gang with ‘the expert advise of Pete (alias Camera House with legs) on such things as lens cleaning techniques. We headed off to Kime Hut in a slight wind and mist, and arrived in a slight win’ (80-$0 knots) and mist. After a rest and some entertainment. we headed off. for Alpha pausing on Hecter for more photos. “' We stopped halfway between Atkinsen and Aston for a short stop, about ‘- half an hour, to watch the mist which created strange human like "aimages. (we forgot Pete had gone. ahead). We stopped for lunch at Alpha Hut, it was a truly entertaining lunch: It wasn't long before we were on tap of Bull Mound looking over a fire Wairarapa. The trip down to Cone Flats was very talkative (we had a lot of stops). After the Gescent, Cone Flats was a welcome Sight. Soon a fly was pitched an? a fire started. : That’ night we had a really nice stew, well most of us Aida anyway. Pete, wanting to cut dcwn on weight, had a ‘dehy’ stew ~ Yuk!!- That night we discovered to our amusement that the fly was pitched sideways which explains why we couldn't fine the clothesline. On Sunday we stood ‘around for about 16 minutes in the rain telling each other it was time to mozzy on. “s Eventually we arrived at Smith Creek shelter for lunch. It was a fast trip out to Kaitoke to meet our transport, but jt was all worh iti ne - ; So thanks to Eric from those on the trip for a really n eat, funny trip!
