PAUA ~ CATTLERIDGR 29 April-1 May Rhonda Catchpole We set off into the rain, mist and wind along the 5 mile track, our destination being Paua Hut. Congrats to those who slept on mattresses and condolences to those who didn’t - a cozy night was had by all!! After getting up exceptionally early we braved a stream that resembled a raging torrent and finally wet and bedraggled reached the Riverside. The Catchpole’s hut was expertly decorated for Sharon's 25th. Liam came down with an unexpected tummy bug, probably from too much Coke! Craig also came down with the sickness a couple of hours later. Ve returned to our pits where the main entertainment was synchronising the ticking of our watches, an easy game once Sam had explained the rules. Late afternoon we wandered down
to the Riverside where the evening's festivities had just begun. Thanks Anita and Co for a great barbecue. Afterwards there was a mad rush for the one comfortable mattress. We were just snoozing off for the night when the sound of people crashing around the hut came to our ears. Louisa went to iavestigate and was peering cut the window when a bucketful of water was thrown in her face - purely by accident! This was followed by several freak rainstorns inside and had we not crawled into bin bags or under plastic bags we would all have been very wet. Next morning we sauntered down to the riverbed, having watched Hugh and Alasdair have deodorant and Raro fights, and Hugh attempting a striptease while climbing through the window. Louisa and I must have been smelly as toothpaste was smeared through our hair and we were picked up and dumped in the river. Thanks Alasdair and Hugh for the bath! After cleaning out the hut the whole mob set out for a brisk run, mudfight and general free for all back to the carpark. Thanks Craig for a great trip. On the trip were: Rhonda Catchpole, Louisa Clissold, Hugh Stevens, Alasdair Wallace, Johnny Waghorn, Liam Taylor, Craig Kurth, Michael Watts, Philip Susted, Daniel Henry, Simon Delahunt and Sam Raphael
