Holdsworth then on to Jumbo. Alas, extremely high winds and low cloud soon put this idea on hold. Five hardier (crazier!) members attempted to make it to the top. 300 metres and one flying hat later it was decided "Angels" in the snow, bum sliding and snow fights were much more pleasurable, meanwhile a snowman was in the making further down the hill.
Now that a respectable appetite had been built up, we were treated to a culinary delight of an amazing "spanish" feast (well done, Karen).
So it was, a night of feasting, farting, merriment and stories from the Hobbit (many thanks to John for the story and the final "statement" for the night) Sunday brought an excellent day to continue our search up Mt Holdsworth then along the east ridge towards Jumbo. But after a team decision it was decided that spending a couple of hours in the snow and taking a shorter route back was the ideal option. It was at this time that construction of an igloo style reading pit was started for our midday reading of the Hobbit. Then it was off down the ridge to meet the truck at the Road end. Rohan even tramped out on a broken ankle (with a couple of "Piggybacks" from John near the end!!). Although the elusive llamas were not found, it would have to be rated as a very enjoyable expedition.
