This was my first over night trip into the hills and was looking forward to it with daddy. We left the car park and started to walk over to the river and then down to Paua hut for the night. It was very hot but dad kept me going and it was nice to get to the river to have a cold drink and a rest before setting off to Paua hut. We got to Paua hut and had lunch then we went down to the river so I could have a play in the river, which was great because it was so hot. Dad cooked me a nice dinner and after that he make hot chocolates for us and we played cards then it was of to the pit, but I could not sleep as I was not use to noises outside but dad told me not to worry about them as they are outside.

The next day we had breakfast and clean up the hut and walk out the way we came in but to the car. While having a rest half way we meet Nolan and her friends with there dog and had a talk then it was back to walking out it the heat. We got back to the car change our clothes and head out to a shop to get an ice cream and home. It was fun and I am looking forward to the next family trip in April (2-3) to Smith’s creek. (editorial nate :- aint she qreat — got to love any kid that uses the word “pit” — a tramper In the making!)
