Arthur's Pass

Alpine passes and scree in the Southern Alps.

Photo: Broken River Diary

Arthur's Pass National Park crosses the Southern Alps between Canterbury and the West Coast, with Mt Rolleston, Avalanche Peak and a lot of steep, open scree and river valleys.

The club's trips range from day trips such as Avalanche Peak and the Broken River basin to alpine climbs and overnight trips to huts such as Carrington, Hawdon and Edwards. There are also trips in the nearby Torlesse Range.
