Heavy mist was experienced out cf the bush and a few Hutt Valleys had to be dragged to the hut, the lack of candle power prohibited them from travelling in heavy darkness. By 12,00 p.m. we were in the. pit consuming hot brews. The- hut was vacated by 5,30 a.m. and Mt. Holdsworth was reached by 6,00 a.m. again heavy cloud prohibited us from seeing much. 4% When we got to Isspelle we headed down the North spur, which brought us to the confluence of Frances Creed Waichine. _ Lunch stop. at mid Weiohine, several swims were encoyntered in-the lower.gorge, end the water wasn’t very @oid. Camp was made at 5.30 p:m. at the old fly camp in the lower Hector. .Sunday morning saw two people head down the sidle-tracxk (must have had enough of swimming). The rest of us carried on down tne river to Totara Flats and lunch was consumed at walls ‘ihare. Arrived at road end a few hours early, except for the two who decided the track was the best mode: of travel:
