One -of -the smaller trips of recént months. consisted of three rather Crazy and devoted souls with the ‘firm intention of completing the trip implanted in their minds. We made a belated start, dué to heavy hail. and Sent sleet, rain and. high wind, about alo a.m. Duly having one, stop.en route to Cow Creek. The Waignawa was up so we. had to use one cage to cross. After a brew, we set about replacing the firewood, that had not been done by a very lazy and inconsiderate previous user, who had apparently spent three days there and used up‘every piece of wood. we finally sot a reluctant fire going and had a large tea, the day's exertions then took it's toll and we fell asleep with yet “another shower of rain, belting down. On Sunday we left about 9 a.m., and made steady progress to Unnamed Creek where we had 1$ hours for lunch in the rain again. However we zot a roaring fire going.
After this we headed out over the track to the road. We had to climb the hill instead of crossing and re crossing the river. Of note was also the large number of quite big windfalls on the route, all the way from Cwo Saddle, frequent diversions being necessary, Somebody wili have to have to stroll down there with a chain saw. The three rather wet, cold bedraggled members who somehow remained quite cheerful for the whole trip were Dave Forbes, Dave Minard and. Pete (Wart) Clark who was leader, of the effort.
