On the 28th of December, eight Tongue and Meats trundled off into NZ's _. smallest and newest National Park. The Park is rich in history, the scene of early Maori occupation and xtensive marine exploration. The. area is botanically unique in that its-bush shows a blending of the natmpal cover of both the North and South Island, and it is not surprising that the bird species are also full of variety and in most cases flourishing. Easy graded tourist tracks and gently curved beaches of golden sand contrast sharply with the interior, much of which is rugged and little explored. By starting from the Park Headquarters at Totaranui and traversing the main ridge system to Moa: Park, then on to Sandy Bay and returning to Totaranui via the beautiful beaches and tidal inlets of the coast, it was possible to do a complete circuit of the’Park in ten days, four

of those being rest days. With continuous warm weather, blue skies and picturesque scenery everyone had a very enjoyable time, total tramping time anognting to about thirty hours. Those lucky people were - Producer —- Neil Carey Director - Don O'Brien Supporting Cast - Bruce Murdoch, Doris Lampart, Angela Munn Brian Proffit, Ron Walter, Wayne Richardson
