RECENT TRIPS We seemed to have a Lot of fine days during July, especially On the week-days, but the weekends weren't too bad either. As at this time i.e. 1 August, no Mt Robert trips have run due to lack Of snow so there is nothing to report from here, Only one trip ran on 1-3 July to the Uhau area - all I've heard is that Scott Trustrum led seven people somewhere. 8-10 July was a good weekend though - Great weather - tons of snow and trampers Out in force, Gerry Kennedy's FE trip ran as planned but the party of five had a spot Of trouble On the BrOken Axe Pinnacles, Alan Parish took nine On the Pit trip from Holdsworth to Angle Knob and Judith Spoor led her mob of six down East Holdsworth, Andy Aanenson's Easy party enjoyed themselves at Mountain House and various unattached bods did Other things. The Alpine Instruction course the following weekend attracted a full busload and good weather. I hOpe everyone found it worthwhile, Ruapehu was the scene again On 22/24 July with the Ski Instruction weekend led by Pete Clark and others, The weather was a bit Of good and bad and with no broken legs everyone must've learnt something. The tramping trips failed to run. The northern Tararua trips On 29/31 July had few takers. Only Alan Parish's trip ran and that had twelve on it. The failure of a number Of peOple to put their names on the trip list at least two weeks before a trip means that we haven't enough names tO Order a bus. Do you understand?? If you want to go on a trip it is no good leaving it until the last minute as this just creates chaos, Make yOu mind up early and we'll all be happy. See yOu in the hills:
