Now for a bit of history. Several members took advantage of the Angac weekend four day break and headed south. Gerry Kennedy and Richard Gavey went down to Nelson Iakes to do some climbing from Cupola Basin. J think they had a pretty good time. \nother party comprising myself, Brian Charles, Tony Gazley and Trevor Bissell paid a visit to the Raglan Range. It was very surpising to find so many keen trampers in the club had never heard of this range. Actually part of .-he range is shown on the Nelson Iakes map, and most of you have heer. there. The Raglan Range comprises Rainbow and Leatham State Forests which kave an area of 165000 acres, and that's larger than the adjoining National Park. Good weather during the four day trip enabled us to see a lot of the area including Lees Creek, Branch River, Lost Stream, Helifire Stream and a lot of the tops. We all agreed that it's worth another few visits when we find thie time. Peaks go up to 7200 feet ana they would make for very interesting climbing. Unfortunately access to the range is only through private property and the rrocess is a bit fiddly. However if you're keen to have a bash in this area I can give you some forms and more ‘information. ~ Paul Richardson
