S ‘I = gh ttm Medion Trio. 24 - 26 February, - A large party of 23 people led by Bruce Taylor, and ineluding 16% non-members climbed Holdsworth on the Saturday, then descended via Holdsworth Ck to camp on terraces about 20 minutes from the Atiwhakatu. On Sunday they drifted out to Donnelly's Flats via the Atiwhakatu gorge, stopping to swim on the way. Holdsworth Ck has several large waterfalls bat it is possible, with care, to sidle around them, From the top of Holdsworth to the Atiwhakatu takes about 4 hours, including stops. The Atiwhakatu Gorge can be recommended = it's really . attractive, quicker than the track, and the water is only waist deep at this time of year, While climbing Holdsworth, we leap~frogged witha large party of 7th form girls * from Saered Heart, Lower Hutt; Upon attaining the summit, they burst quite spontaneously and. unaffestedly into songs of praise and joy! Some of the crusty ald ecynios in our group couldn't believe their ears during this 'Stare on Holdsworth', but I know other members quite enjoyed the girls' music. Mike 'China Tea’ Hollis was another source of entertainment to the masses, when he left his treasured Tea behind at Donnelly Flat on Saturday morning, Those aware of his temporary loss spent much tims working out subtle comments about his forgetfulness and China Tea, All ended happily when Mike and his tea were reunited on the Saturday evening, though I did feel a little deflated when Mike just said - "Oh, fe" lightened ny load by carrying my tea for me !"
