After a few late night wheel spins, we arrived at the Tukino Village. The conditions Cid not encourage a piod to Whangaehu Hut so people retired to the tents, or into the back of the van. With a cool breeze blowing and an early sunrise we were away up the hill heading for a brew and bite to eat at Whangaehu Hut. Arrived at Cathedral Rocks at 10.30 in time for some ice climbs. At 3 p.m. we adjourned for lunch and a spot of caving due to the misty damp conditions. By early evening the 8-man snow cave was completed and the boys settiéd down for a hot brew, dinner, and. 2 good night's sleep. 5.30 Sunday morning we were greeted by a magnificent sunrise, so it was out of the pits and onto the "verandah" for breakfast and brew. The day was filled in with the odd ice climb and a few wanders’ to the crater lake and Te Heu Heu. f All in all, a good weekend for climbing and weather for Paul Aubrey Dave Wills, Jan Van Beeman, Bruce McKinlay, Dan Wilson, Paul -Richardson, John Crimp, and Barry Kivell.
