Kev Thompson, Jack > ‘McConchie and Neil Woodrow spent eight days in this range which is rarely visited despite spectacular scenery and FE conditions. Basically the three tramped up the Cwen River north of Murchison and down the Mokihinui River to Seddonville on the West Coast. Neil says the area is very rugged and bluffed, When they arrived in the region, deep snow down to 3000 feet forced a change in plans. They crossed several high plateaux surrounded by bluffs. One of these covered'a thousand acres, tramping down the Mokihinui,- Jack spotted a. strange metalic reflection which turned out to be a crashed. plane. The trio helped dismantle the plane for a helicopter which was lifting the remains to a road end.
