HOLLY ‘HUT, MT TARANAKI (27-29 September) ~- ‘Andrew Trembath - Friday night we headed straight for the Camp House; the next morning it hosed down, rain and hail. But this didn't stop the mad medium tramp— ing party of three. As we left some of the climbing Party % was’ ae in their pits; no names, a "Dale" it was, at Sam. The track started as a path with stairs... and more and more stairs?! After about an hour we arrived at the point where the track started ‘to cut, across the mountain. The weather got worse, but on we plodded through, snow which was quite deep in places, and- arrived at Holly Hut I about mid-day. After lunch Ken and Leighann went to look at Bell Falls while I.tried to get the fire going - without much luck (no axe:). The climbers turned up later to pike; it was: too rough on the tops. ;. Sunday was*still windy, but the mad three were out first tq return by ' the lower track. We were back at the House for lunch.
