By Gretchen Good Peggy thought it might be a charging bull but it couldn't have been..... we were on Mount "Cowcow'!! Saturday morning Peggy, Daniel, Graham, Fiona, Bruce and Gretchen met at the Railway Station and with great gusto tackled the first leg of the day's trek. The train picked up Graeme M. along the way and we met John at Box Hill ~~ station. We meandered up through Khandallah Park and on to the top to the TV transmitter Lookout where we had fantastic views of the city, harbour, Rimutakas, Tararuas, the Porirua Basin and the Tasman Sea. At this point the wind picked up and we were off, chasing our caps and hugging rocks as we followed the ridge and then the Northern Walkway down to Karori. That was also when we last saw Graham who jogged ahead at lunchtime. (The lizard did not get him; he reported in safely later on Saturday).
It was a beautiful day for our "Introductory" Day Tramp and the sun shone between gusts of wind and the occasional, passing cloud. The pace was leisurely and the company superb. (Iunderstand John's Rocky Road sticky gooey snack thing was pretty good too!) Close-up views of lambs and cows added to the ambience of the day. There wasn't really a close encounter with a bull, was there Peggy?
