RECENT TRIPS Club trips got off to a slow start this year, but the excellent woa th er during’ Pebruary, and March got the crowds ont. . Amniversary Weekend ~The. ‘Ohau. bo~ Otake . aque ‘¢rip was: led by. Mark Fickering who had 6 members and 7 non-members on the trip. Brian - Hunt led the fit trip with 8 membeyvs and 8 non-members. — I7.- I8th Feb - WAMC sports. weekend drew a large crowd from our club but we didn't have many running in the marathons as the results showed. However Doris Lampart and Carol Downey won the billy-boiling contest and the girls also won the tug of war. And I think we.ali won on the buf-et dinner — great value for "money <= ‘thanks ‘to <a the. workers. 24° - 26 BPeb - Trips in the holdsworth area proved very poptiiate this weekend. Peter Clark had I2 members I5 non-members on.the ascent. Holdsworth. Bruce Taylor had 7 membexs and I7 non-members on hig Holdsworth Creek trip. Neil Woodrow went down Isabelle Creek . and up Hieh-Ridge with 3 members . and 3 non-members. :

ecaudbea 4 ame 4 ‘beeen -—— mee ee oe se gw aeen) Tes & lems while Jack MeCGonchie led 5 mambers all over the place. 3-5 March: @nly 3 membars and 7 non-members went up the coast to Whanganui Bay with Paul Aubrey. Rock climbing, or at least knowing the ropes is an integral part of competent tramping and mountaineering, but judging by the interest shown, mountaineering activity in the club is almost non-existent. Tramping trips in the Ksitawa - Waitewaswas this weekend attracted 25, The East Waitewaewae gorge was finally traversed after three previnus abortive attempts, 40-12 March: The Busheraft weekend at Otaki Forks had a total of 25 instructors and pupils, If you want a Yefund from this trip, see the notes, ' 47=19 March: Scott Trustrum lad 18 hods on the Roaring Stag easy trip. Ian Buncks led' 10 on the Tawhero trip (5 non-members), Joff Connell led 5 up to Cattle Ridge, and Jack McConchie led Paul Aubrey and 2 Hutt Valleys all over the place (again). The weather wasn't very good tho, Easter: Quite a crow! went South this year. There were 2 medium trips. Glynis Hadfield led one party of 17, amd Barry Somebody led another 716 somewhere else, Ian Bunckenberg led 13 on the fit trip up to the St Arnand Range, Arnst Basin, Hopeless . Gréek, Sunset Saddle, Angelus, :tc, Brian H nt led a party of 11 from Lewis Pass to St Arnaud in 6 days via Marvia and Matakiteki Rivers, Waiau, East Sabine, Rainbow, Travers - an excollent trip by all accounts, Claire Mahoney led the easy trip with 8 people w people which makes a whopping total of 65, Barry biggs and Paul Autrey Were in the Spensers too, but you'd better ask Paul what they did. And last but not least, the Anatoki addicts ( myself, Tony Gazley, Trevor Bissell and Hrian Charles - a new addict) had a return trip to ths Anatoki, All we can say is ~ "What a fantastic area - where have al] the trampers been all these years ?"
